the introduction of cone calorimeter:
ISO5660 flame resistant Cone Calorimeter for Building Material was developed in 1982 by v. Babrauskas et al. Of NIST in the United States. It is a material combustion performance test instrument based on the principle of oxygen consumption.
Based on the oxygen consumption principle, the cone calorimeter measures the heat release rate of the material by using the oxygen consumption principle.The so-called oxygen consumption principle is: when the material burns, the amount of heat released by consuming each unit of oxygen is basically the same, and the measured value is 13.1MJ/kg±5%.In the experiment, we can load the sample on the load unit and measure the mass loss rate of the sample in the combustion process.The flammability and ignition time can be tested by heating the sample and igniting it by electric spark ignition.The combustion gas is collected in the attached pipe and exhaust hood, and the heat release rate is automatically tested by collecting the changes of smoke pressure difference, gas concentration and temperature.The smoke density performance parameters can be measured by optical device.Meanwhile, through the above data, the effective combustion heat, specific extinction area and other extended data can be obtained.Cone calorimeter testing is a safe, fast and accurate testing method. In addition to product development, cone calorimeter can also be used as a quality control tool.

the main features we can know:
1.Integrated body and 19" analysis rack, 15" touch screen panel type PC for the whole control and automatic testing
2.Conical Heater - is wound in the form of a truncated cone, rated 5000 W at 230 V with a heat output of 100 kW/m2.
3.Facility for testing horizontally or vertically orientated specimens
4.Temperature control by the use of a 3 type K thermocouples and a 3-term (PID) temperature controller.
5.Auto Split Shutter automatically opened to transmit radiation to the sample, Automatic Spark Igniter to facilitate measurement of ignition time.

9.Exhaust System - manufactured from stainless steel for long life. This comprises, hood, gas sampling ring probe, exhaust fan (with adjustable flow controls from 0-50g/s, at a resolution of at least 0.1g/s) and an orifice plate flow measurement (thermocouple and differential pressure transducer). Normal operation is at a nominal 24 l/s.
10.ABB Gas feed unit, Model SCC-S, including 1 gas path, condensate monitor, pump and flow controller with needle valve Peltier cooler and condensate pump. SCC-S can remove water automatically.
11.ABB EL3020-Uras26+ Magnos206, CO 0-1%, CO2 0-10%, automatic calibration of CO & CO2, does not require the use of mixture of CO&CO2 gas. O2 0-25%, Only once a month is used to calibrate the zero point with the nitrogen.
12.Smoke Obscuration - measured with a laser system, using photodiodes, and a 0.5 mW Helium Neon laser, with main and reference (compensating) photo detectors. Supplied with alignment cradle and 0.3, 0.8 neutral density filters for calibration.
13.Medtherm Heat Flux Meter - for setting the irradiance level at the surface of the specimens, the range from 0-100KW/m2.
14.Provide the Self circulation cooling water to cool heat flux meter, without External tap water.
Calibration Burner - to calibrate the rate of heat release measured by the apparatus using methane of 99.5% purity.
15.Methane MFC, to control the flow rate of Methane automatically.
16.OMRON PLC to control all movement such as Split Shutter, Spark Igniter etc.
17.DAQ(Data Acquisition) Program controllable with the touch screen panel PC
18.Provide 10units of PMMA samples for comparison testing.
